Join us for an interactive Civil War history experience.
Discover the personal stories and experiences of the Civil War, when Old Fort Niagara was a staging area for men and groups that were transitioning either from the battlefield to home, or from home to the battlefield. From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., re-enactors consisting of Federal U.S. Army or Union troops, with their dependents and some other civilians, will deliver engaging presentations and activities that will bring the 1860s to life in this educational and family-friendly event, including ongoing living history demonstrations of equipment, weapons and activities, such as musket firings, bayonet and infantry drills, foodways (food and cooking techniques during the Civil War) and period camps within the buildings and on the fort grounds.
