Historical Assoc. of Lewiston Presents: “The Tuscarora Tradition of Sturgeon Spear Fishing”

Thursday, May 22, 2025 (7:00 PM - 8:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

HAL's May Program is presented by Vince Schiffert and Joe Rickard, local Tuscarora members. Come hear them talk about Tuscarora communities over time and place - especially regarding the role of sturgeon spear fishing on the Niagara River and other waterways. They will focus on their connection to the rivers and streams they lived near and the fish they relied on from those waterways. The waterways and fishing history from North Carolina to their present community will be discussed.

This is also the annual meeting for the Historical Association. Prior to the presentation, business will be discussed and dues paying members will vote for candidates to fill our Board of Trustees
